AI Experiment | Snuggies Diapers

Overview
I decided to revive an old campaign that I worked on for a diaper brand that was cancelled midway through the process. I was given the images to use for my portfolio, and I like the quirky art direction, but they were unfinished. One monster had been created in 3D, but two were missing, so I decided to experiment with Midjourney to create the missing ones, and also finish the retouching.

Face Replacements
Before I started creating new monsters, I needed to replace the faces of the toddlers in the ads, because as the campaign did not go ahead, they wouldn't have been paid usage fees.

Face Replacements
I knew that Midjourney does a pretty good job with photorealistic faces, but there are usually extra fingers and scary appendages that could only come from the imagination of an AI, so I created the prompts very specifically with this in mind, intending to only use the heads.

Monster Creation
When I created the two missing monsters with Midjourney, I wanted to be sure they would match the lighting conditions of the images as closely as possible, so I used the images as part of the prompt parameters at first, but I didn't get the results I wanted. After some experimentation, very many way-too-scary monsters, and lots of adjectives, I arrived at two monsters I was happy with.
Retouching
A significant amount of retouching was required, such as replacing the toddlers' faces, introducing the two new monsters, and cleaning up the images overall, since they hadn't been retouched yet. I had to integrate stock image body parts to blend the new faces with the existing bodies. To improve the quality of two low-resolution images, I used an AI image upscaler for sharper and clearer results.
I also used Photoshop (Beta), to remove some elements that were making the layout feel busy and distracting from the concept.
